Fall is a special time for us (Jeff and Saumirah, co-founders of Dance Daze Dance Boards) because it reminds us of when we officially began this business back in 2020! Though we began developing our first dance boards in the summer of 2020, our circular dance boards were first available for sale in September/October of that year. Because we were so excited about starting a business together and were seeking ways to celebrate the season (Saumirah loves, LOVES holidays, like all of them . . .), we decided to create orange dance boards last fall as well! This year, we won't be releasing any fully orange boards, but we do have some fun ideas in mind to celebrate the season...
Our Co-founder Jeff just got back from a few days of camping. Our other Co-founder, Saumirah, could spend an entire day laying out at the beach with good friends, good music, and good food. And, as you likely know if you're reading this blog, Saumirah absolutely loves dancing outside. I could go on and share about how Jeff was a Boy Scout as a kid or how Saumirah has volunteered with several nonprofit organizations that regularly pick up trash, but the point is this: The founders of Dance Daze Dance Boards love the earth. We want to heal the earth, protect it, and enjoy it. So it only makes sense that we'd be really sensible when it comes to only...
Every brand has a story, right? Following is a bit of the story of Dance Daze Dance Boards. After the pandemic hit, and after we knew that it was going to last a little longer than we may have originally believed, Dance Daze Dance Boards founder Saumirah McWoodson had gotten into the habit of creating free digital content for kids every week. She was reading stories and creating educational movement videos (find these on YouTube!) and she was even doing a weekly Instagram Live Ballet Barre class every Monday night. Additionally, Saumirah even started a fully virtual dance program, called Dance Daze Online for which she eventually recorded nearly 100 dance classes for children ages 2 to 10 between April...

Every single photo of me posing on a Dance Daze Dance Board ™ is outside. On top of that, I only have a few videos, likely amounting to fewer than 20 seconds in all, showing me dancing on one of my boards indoors. And maybe that would be alright, except that our dance boards function perfectly well indoors as much as they do outdoors. And, when I talk about DDDB, our passion for spreading positivity, our desire to celebrate color and diversity, and our fantastic, handmade products, I want to tell everyone about all of the benefits. So, for a long time, it really bothered me that my reality is as it is: I really don't like the idea of people anywhere...
