5 Ways Dance Daze Dance Boards Can Support Your Goals for the New Year

If you follow me (Dance Daze Dance Boards Co-founder Saumirah McWoodson) online, you may have heard me say before that I’m not the biggest fan of setting new year resolutions for myself. I am more the kind of person to focus on one or a few words for the year (i.e., in the past, one of my words was “community”), and I feel that this really helps to guide my focus on what experiences I create for myself, what I say “yes” to, and what I say “no” to. So far, I haven’t yet picked my words or specific intentions for the year, but I am focusing on the ideas of moving, creating, and getting out into nature more. Additionally, I’m...

How My Dance Background Helps Me As A Business Owner

I had my first dance lesson at the age of 3. I don’t remember much of it, but I do remember two things about it. First, I remember there were weird stuffed animals in the window area that creeped me out. Second, I remember that I didn’t like it, and I kept going to my mom to ask for more snacks. (I’ll forever be grateful to Ms. Vanessa, my first tap dance teacher who told my mother...

Why Dance Daze Dance Boards Are Made With This Wood

Our Co-founder Jeff just got back from a few days of camping. Our other Co-founder, Saumirah, could spend an entire day laying out at the beach with good friends, good music, and good food. And, as you likely know if you're reading this blog, Saumirah absolutely loves dancing outside. I could go on and share about how Jeff was a Boy Scout as a kid or how Saumirah has volunteered with several nonprofit organizations that regularly pick up trash, but the point is this: The founders of Dance Daze Dance Boards love the earth. We want to heal the earth, protect it, and enjoy it. So it only makes sense that we'd be really sensible when it comes to only...

What inspires you to work?

I love working. More specifically, I love spending time thinking, then using my freshly-generated ideas to create a new reality. I'm someone who's highly motivated by a sense of responsibility, so when my work allows me to feel that I have the power to positively impact lives through my words, actions, or tangible creations, I'm given an indescribable sense of reward. What I love most about the work that I'm currently doing, though, is that I am working tirelessly and fearlessly to live the life of my dreams. Each day, I am working to be as happy as I can possibly be. Additionally, this way of living allows me to continually consider others. My happiest of happy vision always, somehow,...
